Review: I think by now the folks at Loren’s Auto Repair may know my car better than my primary care physician knows me. I first had my car with Loren’s for some extensive work – I recently purchased a used 2008 Subaru Outback – to get it road-ready for an out-of-state trip to see family. After Loren’s was done with it, the car felt good, it felt solid. And I made it safely and comfortably to Arizona. Unfortunately, on the way home my engine blew out 40 miles north of Flagstaff. You often hear of the predatory stories of mechanic shops preying on stranded, ignorant, out-of-town travelers. What should be a small maintenance issue turns into an unnecessary need (and added expense) for a new engine. But my engine did indeed need to be replaced. Working with the guidance of Mark at Loren’s, he helped turn a possibly big ordeal into a comfortable inconvenience. Unfortunately, weeks later and back at home issues arose around how the new engine was installed. After bringing the car in for an oil change, Loren’s identified a major oil leak. Initially, it was determined to be from a faulty gasket from the new engine. Mark worked with the NAPA representative to get the part replaced under their guarantee. There was nothing for me to say or do further. Mark handled it all. All I needed to do was bring the car in a week later to get the gasket replaced. When I brought the car in for the gasket replacement, the true source of the oil leak was found. The mechanics in AZ cracked the head when installing the new engine. Mark worked with the AZ mechanics and resolved the issue, which led to the AZ mechanics honoring their guarantee. It cost me nothing. And again, there was nothing I needed to say or do. Mark’s knowledge and professionalism is invaluable to me. I know very little about the mechanical workings of a car. I’m comforted by the trust I can have in Mark and the folks at Loren’s in the maintenance and care of my Subaru. And thankful.
